Shavlik Randolph explodes

Shavlik Randolph (6'10 240 PF), 4th year pro, last night demonstrated why he is in the league after barely playing the last couple years. Shavlik shot a perfect game for the Portland Trailblazers, leading them in scoring, rebounding, and blocks, with 19 points (on 9 shots), 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks, in only 19 minutes.

Shavlik is just the tip of the iceberg, a sudden flash showing the depth of white American basketball talent. Guys like him barely ever get to showcase their talent, so it is great to see it when it happens.

To be fair, Shavlik had a horrific Joe Theismannesque leg break early last year, so that's why he didn't play. Well, after a long rehab he played briefly late in the season and understandably was very tentative on the court. He actually did get some time with the Sixers before that (though this year they purged their team of all white players) and did okay when given a chance. I doubt he'll see the court much this season but I hope he gets a shot.

Wow, I did not know that. Thanks for the update. Good for him for coming back from that.
