Matt Walsh released by Heat

Matt Walsh (6'6 205 SG), 3 year pro out of Florida, was cut by the Heat.

After playing the past two seasons in Europe, Walsh was added on the eve of training camp on a non-guaranteed, make-good contract.

Walsh played with David Lee at Florida, and was the MVP of the SEC tournament his junior (and last) year there. He averaged 14.8 and 15.6 ppg in his last two seasons at Florida, but went undrafted.

In the 2006-07 season, Walsh played with Olympia Larissa BC in the Greek league, having a successful year for both the team and himself. He was considered one of the most valuable players in the Greek league that year, and he was also the second best scorer of the competition, averaging 17.8 points per game.

Previously, Walsh appearedwith Ricoh Manresa of the Spanish ACB League and averaged 11.3 points, and TEC Spirou Charleroi of the Belgian League averaging 12.4 points.

Walsh previously signed with the Heat on Aug. 15, 2005, playing in two games for three total minutes before being waived on Nov. 18, 2005, which has been his lone NBA regular-season experience.
